North Little Rock Community Concert Band presents "Names and Places"

The North Little Rock Community Concert Band will present the initial performance of their 2018 season on Sunday March 18th at 3:00 PM at the Patrick Henry Hays Center. The free, family friendly, hour long concert by the eighty member wind band conducted by Rico Belotti continues the performances by the ensemble which have been presented to the citizens of Central Arkansas continuously since November of 1982. Music Director Belotti calls this concert program "Names and Places" and will feature a variety of musical styles. In addition to the band's traditional patriotic opening numbers the band will offer the "Fanfare, from Also Sprach Zarathrustra" by Richard Strauss; K.L. King's Persian styled circus march "Cyrus the Great"; a medley of tunes from "West Side Story" by Leonard Bernstein, arranged by Jay Bocook; "Manhattan Beach March" played in the true John Philip Sousa style; David Holsinger's "On a Hymnsong of Lowell Mason" based on the tune "My Faith Looks Up to Thee";"The Boys of Wexford' by Robert Joyce and arranged by Sammy Nestico; And in honor of the Centennial of the First World War a medley of ragtime, blues and hot jazz titled by arranger James Lamb "James Reese Europe's 369th Hellfighter Band".
